Clinical Laboratory Assistant (CLA)

And we’re looking for a Clinical Laboratory Assistant.

The Clinical Laboratory Assistant (CLA) performs a variety of laboratory and administrative tasks to support the clinical laboratory staff in the CLIA-certified laboratory. This role will be responsible for performing laboratory duties under direct and constant supervision of a licensed CLS or the Clinical Laboratory Manager and/or designee, who provides specific instructions regarding how tasks are to be performed and defines the steps to be completed.

What You’ll Do

• Perform patient specimen processing under direct and constant supervision of a licensed CLS
• Perform routine laboratory maintenance tasks and setting up consumables in preparation of laboratory testing.
• Assist the CLS in laboratory testing
• Receive and accession samples into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to facilitate sample throughput
• Perform instrument calibration and maintenance
• Perform data entry and maintain spreadsheets
• Participate in materials management activities which include tasks such as ordering, receiving, unpacking, documentation and labeling of consumables and reagents, and stocking work areas.
• Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities
• Perform testing for special research and development studies
• Comply with established quality control policies and document QC activities
• Comply with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations governing clinical laboratory operations

‍What You’ll Bring to the Team

• Bachelor’s in biology-related science 
• 1-3 years experience
• Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and other shifts as needed.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to details.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Aptitude for performance of molecular testing techniques (NGS, PCR, etc.)
• You must be legally authorized to work in the U.S and be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with the exception of a medical or religious exemption.
